The blaze broke out around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Tuesday, June 14 in West Babylon at 889 Little East Neck Road, Suffolk County Police said.
After the fire was extinguished, Colleen Jalbert, age 71, was located inside the residence, according to police.
Jalbert was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
Her daughter, age 48, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
A preliminary investigation has determined the cause of the fire to be non-criminal in nature.
